Welcome!!
Here at creatingwithelisa.com, the focus will be on paper crafting: card making, scrapbooking, 3-D projects, party decor, and more. I have always loved letter writing and finding mail in the old fashioned mailbox! There is something nostalgic about recognizing someone’s handwriting and not even having to look at the return address. I had several pen pals growing up and always looked forward to retrieving the mail. Card making helped me put a new spin on my love of mail! When I don’t have time to sit down and write a long letter, a card can convey my sentiments and a quick message. Most of all though, it conveys to the recipient that they are were on my mind.
A handmade card wraps your message with a little more love! Let’s some smiles through the mail.
How can you send smiles?
During this pandemic, I have been encouraging my friends to make an effort to create and send out cards on a regular basis to people they know and even people they don’t know (like residents of a nursing home or group home). In the first few weeks of the pandemic, we reached roughly 120 cards that were sent out by a small group of women. So 120 people got mail that I am sure made them smile.
There are many great organizations that collect cards for distribution at hospitals and care facilities. While I will highlight those organizations as an ongoing part of the blog, I will share my favorite one with you now: http://www.cardsforhospitalizedkids.com/ My hope is that you will find an organization that speaks to your heart and that motivates you to support their card distribution efforts.
While I get the finishing touches together for this blog, I encourage you to send out some cards! (They don’t have to be handmade but it is a nice touch!) Have your handmade cards included in our tally by commenting here or by emailing me at elisa@creatingwithelisa.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
