Random Acts of Kindness Challenge

Let’s spread some random kindness out there!

It sure seems like we could all use some random acts of kindness these days. So much is going on around us that can drain our energy. I know a sure fire way to increase our energy, brighten our days and make us smile. MAKE SOMEONE ELSE SMILE! Seriously! Doing a good deed or gesture for another person can not only make the other person smile, but will brighten your day!

Around Halloween, I had a few extra tombstone boxes from Stampin’ UP that were decorated and full of candy. I passed one through the drive-thru drawer at the bank. I almost didn’t do it because I wasn’t sure how it would be received….the teller seemed super serious. I’m so happy that I didn’t chicken out. Her whole demeanor changed and she was like a little kid as she exclaimed, “This is for me? Oh my gosh!”

i gifted the second box to the young man working the McDonald’s drive-thru. He wasn’t so far off of being a little kid himself and was visibly excited.
In both cases, I drove away feeling better and happier because I made someone else smile!

Why now?

Why not, now? Kindness never goes out of style…even when everything around us is going right. Everyone could always use some kindness and a smile. And here is an easy way to do it!
Additionally, while I was making a sample with the sweet little boxes from the January – June mini catalog, I remembered the stories about the other treat boxes I had made and shared.

Sample Sweet Little Box

This sweet little box measures
3 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 5/8.

This sweet little box can hold gift cards, notes, or candy. (An individually wrapped chocolate square would fit perfectly!)

Decorating the box was quick and easy using the Sweet Talk DSP, Sweet Conversations Stamp Set and Sweet Heart Dies.

Not Just for Valentines Day

The sweet little boxes for Random Acts of Kindness are not just for Valentines Day! You can decorate them with anything that inspires you and you can give them out at any time of the year. February and Valentines Day just seem to be a great way to start a habit of doing random acts of kindness.

Challenge

Here’s the challenge. Get yourself some of the sweet little boxes; decorate them anyway you want; put a small token of your appreciation and thanks inside; and, start passing them out as you go about your day. If you are staying close to home these days, you can leave one out for the UPS worker, your favorite postal employee, the neighbor who shovels your sidewalk or the little kids who always wave to you as they head to school.

It’s never too late for you kids to develop the habit of creating random acts of kindness. Get them some sweet little boxes and some stickers. Let them go to town decorating and filling the boxes. Encourage them to brain storm who they should surprise with a RAK. And then start causing smiles wherever you go!

Let us know!

Come back to the site and let us know how you used your crafting to generate some RAKs. We’d love to see how you decorated your boxes so definitely send photos. If you are having trouble sending photos in the comments, you can email photos to me at Elisa@creatingwithelisa.com
